A Tribute to Pat Romano's generosity, his indomitable spirit and loving support of the SCARC "kids" as he called them

For twenty-four years, Pat Romano, Sr. chaired the annual golf outing to help raise funds for people with developmental disabilities, which in 1977 raised several thousand dollars.  On Wednesday, September 30, 2009 the SCARC Foundation celebrated his memory by holding the Seventh Annual Pat Romano, Sr. Memorial Golf Invitational, netting over $130,000.  The Foundation is extremely honored to name the tournament after Pat, who was a dedicated Board Member on the SCARC, Inc. Executive Board of Trustees for over 20 years and had devoted many hours to educating parents and the community about people with developmental disabilities.

Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc. has co-sponsored the annual golf outing with the SCARC Foundation, Inc. since 1977.  Ronetco's tremendous support, along with their vendors and the Sussex County community, has helped the SCARC Foundation to create the most successful fundraising event and golf outing in Sussex County.

Dominick V. Romano, President and CEO of Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc., welcomed everyone to the first outing in Pat's memory in 2003.  Dominick said, "My brother, Pat, who chaired this event for twenty-four years, had the heart of a true volunteer.  Pat never asked for or needed any recognition for what he did --- he just simply volunteered his time or gave to the cause because he believed in it.  His deep compassion for people with developmental disabilities was witnessed first hand when he left a personal legacy to our individuals and families by establishing the Pasquale T. Romano, Sr. Endowment Fund."
